The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) had warned the e-scooter and Bicycle riders to obey the rules after issuing an advisory on Sunday. On the failure of which, they are bound to face penalties up to Dh 300. The residents and tourists of Dubai are advised to ride e-scooters on the designated tracks. The advisory was disseminated through social media to reach a large audience quickly.

Lately, the use of both bicycles and e-scooters has become relevant and popular, owing to the ease and convenience provided by them. If riders are seen carrying a passenger on the bicycle or electric bicycle, they will be imposed with Dh 200. Meanwhile, if the same is done while riding an e-scooter, a Dh 300 penalty has to be paid. Further, in the absence of a helmet and safety gear, the riders will be charged with Dh 200 as a fine.

When riding on the designated tracks, if the rides exceed the speed limits set by the RTA, Dh 100 is the decided fine. Nonetheless, the highest penalty price of Dh 300 will be incurred from the riders if they are moving in a reckless way that endangers their and other's life.

It is also essential to comply with directional signs while riding on tracks and roads, even while riders are on e-scooters or bicycles. When failing to obey the riders have to face a fine of Dh 200. Furthermore, the same fines had to be paid, if children below 12 years are not accompanied while cycling. It is also illegal to transport a passenger on an e-scooter, and these vehicles can only be operated by those within the age of 16.

The Roads and Transport Authority had also added that the riders are not permitted to exceed their speeds above 20 km/hr while travelling in the designated tracks of residential areas and beaches. Equally significant is to follow the traffic directions while moving in these designated tracks.
